For those that don’t know: PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a third-person battle-royale, last-man-standing shooter from PLAYERUNKNOWN aka Brendan Green, a pioneer of the Battle Royale genre. As the creator of the Battle Royale game-mode found in the ARMA series and H1Z1: King of the Hill, Greene is co-developing the game with the aforementioned Bluehole. In the game, players start with nothing and must fight to locate weapons and supplies in a battle to be the lone survivor. Described as a "realistic" and "high tension," the game takes place on a large 8×8 km island built in Unreal Engine 4. It’s wildly intense at times, and has created some the best GIFs in video games since its launch.

Recently, we learned that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds ' publisher Bluehole only expected the game to sell a mere 200,000 or 300,000 copies in its first year. The game had been released for only five months when it was announced to have sold more than 10 million copies through Steam Early Access.
